Posted on 10/29/2026

Headline: Studio City Neighborhood Council Addresses Tragic Hit-and-Run, River Greenway Funding, and Local Safety Updates

At the October 28 Studio City Neighborhood Council meeting, an emotional appeal from the fiancée of a fatal hit-and-run victim at Ventura Boulevard and Carpenter Avenue brought urgent attention to traffic safety, alongside LAPD updates noting a 44% decline in local burglaries, enforcement challenges with abandoned RVs, and the introduction of incoming Senior Lead Officer Antonio Canchola. The Council approved key motions supporting improvements, expansion, and right-of-entry access for the Los Angeles River Greenway—which features $375,000 in Greenway funding and $300,000 for Recreation and Parks—as well as exploring new parkland parcels along Ventura Boulevard and pushing for shade canopy trees over palms at the Merrill Gardens development. Additionally, the Board supported a transit study for a direct route between the North Hollywood Metro Station and Burbank Airport, backed local implementation of state legislation for addressing abandoned RVs, and celebrated community outreach milestones including a successful 40–45 volunteer cleanup and a blood drive that saved 16 lives.
